The cane that is planted on the project’s land comes from a place called Los Sauces on the Canary island of La Palma. This adventure began thanks to Manuel Marichal Padrón and his experience as a sugar cane producer.
The first zafra (sugar cane harvesting) was on the 21st and 22nd of April 2023 when the cane was hand-cut by Aaron Barreto, Eloy González, Eloy González Jr, Manuel Martín Martín Marichal and Nacho Zerolo themselves.
The abovementioned group with the additional support of David Gonzalez and Marcelo Galdón, and the invaluable collaboration from the very beginning of Gonzalo Mapfre and several other collaborators such as the Gorrín brothers, the land owners and farming technicians, prepared the “La Caleta” land and later sowed the cane.
Later on, we also planted sugarcane at 500 meters, where our distillery is located, which led having 5,000 square meters of a sugarcane plantation.

The land is located in the same area where sugar cane was first grown around 1500 and again in the 19th century, after the Lathbury & Co Sugar Mill was completed.
The land belongs to the Gorrín family.
If you zoom in on the photo, you can see the mill built by lathbury & Co in 1883.
